The spirit of the world brings death to the soul as you cannot worship both God and the ways of the world. We are drawn to the beauty of the Iris as it symbolises all the beauty of our worldly desires being love, cherished and fulfilled.
When Moses looked at the burning bush he was given the courage to follow God and leave behind his worldly ways. He recognised the I Am of God in his ancestors and we must also to be set free from the promises of the world to follow Jesus. As we gaze upon the icon we are set free to receive a new resurrected life looking forward in the power of God’s love and His promises of eternal life.
